Longmont Lights! Downtown Open House and Tree Lighting Ceremony

Longmont Lights kicks off a week long list of holiday activities starting in Downtown Longmont on Friday, December 4, 2009. Main Street will be closed from 3rd Avenue to Longs Peak Avenue for this year�s 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Kick-Off Event.
The Downtown Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting Ceremony, formerly called Celebration of Lights will include everything from treats, hands on craft activities to entertainment in Downtown businesses. Come out and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, take part in a free carriage ride, visit Santa or countdown for the lights to turn on at the 6th Avenue tree lighting ceremony.
SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES:
6:00 PM Reindeer Dash: A three block fun run for all ages on Main Street from 3rd Avenue to 6th Avenue. Registration starts at 5:30 PM on The Dickens Patio at 300 Main Street. The first 200 participants will recieve gift bags. Gift Card Prizes will be awarded to a few lucky participants. Antlers or Holiday Garb is encouraged.
6:15 PM Holiday Tree Lighting at 6th Avenue Plaza (6th Avenue and Main Street).
6:00 - 8:00 PM Activities:
Street Entertainment: Two dancing �Tree People� walking up and down Main Street and various performers. Pony Express: Pony carousel and two dwarf ponies pulling two-seater carts. Wagon Rides: Pulled wagon will go up and down closed portion of Main Street and stop at each Breezeway for pick up and drop off. 4 Fire Pits will line Main Street. Olomomo Nut Company will have spiced nuts and hot spiced beverages for sale. Merchant Open Houses will be taking place. A photographer will walk around offering to take family photos. Airborne Gymnastic & Dance�s Nutty Nutcracker Costumed Greeters. Bagpipers will accompany Fire Twirlers throughout the event.
